Come and discover the wonderful world of honey bees with this in hive bee tour.
This tour will be guided by one of our experienced beekeepers who will explain the basics of honey bee ecology, a year in the life of a bee hive, what the bees need to survive and a brief over view of our bee breeding program here at Lost Meadows. We will open up one of our hives, show you the different parts of the hive, Maybe spot the queen! And finally finish with a taste of honey right from the hive.
We will answer all of your questions along the way and leave some time at the end for further discussion if needed.
Each tour is 1 hour. With visitors needing to arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled tour time.
We can accommodate up to 8 people at time per tour, drop ins are welcome, please wear the appropriate clothing. (Closed toe shoes, pants, light coloured top).
All protective equipment will be provided (beekeeping jacket or veil and gloves), so that you will be comfortable while you learn about the amazing world of honeybees and their important role in our environment.
The tour will be rescheduled if extreme weather conditions are present.
